Heritage Centre Cottingley Town Hall

2020 Closed until further notice

The Cottingley Village History Society was formed in 2004 and at our first meeting we had 33 people attending.

The Object of the Society is to provide a common meeting ground for the study and discussion of, and research into, history in general, and of the local area in particular.

Talks by invited speakers or outings to places of interest take place every two months If you are interested in local history and enjoy pleasant company, do come along and join us. A warm welcome is extended to new members.

We are a varied group of people of different ages, with one common interest - our local heritage!

We hope that this site will prove interesting and informative, bringing the history of Cottingley to as many people as possible. It is regularly updated - at any time there could be new additions. So please bookmark the site to check for updates.

The Society is creating a database of local historical knowledge for present and future use. Help us to record it now by allowing us to borrow photographs, and/or documents relating to the history of the village and its residents for inclusion in the archive. Local stories/anecdotes are also required. If you have any material please contact the Secretary who will ensure the safety of any documents.

Most of the photographs in the Photo album section have been supplied by people of Cottingley and the wider community. These will be added to as they become available.
